Do Something Unexpected – Make Their Day!

Just a reminder today, that no matter what life throws at you, as well as making time for yourself, you should always make time for others.

Just a smile, a hello, a kind word could make all the difference to someone’s day. ?

It doesn’t have to be someone you know, a simple gesture to acknowledge the work of the checkout operator – try ‘hello, how’s your day?’ or even ‘enjoy the rest of your day!’ to the phone-call operator cold calling you to sell you double glazing!

You could also let the person behind you in the queue go in front; help someone before they ask (maybe carry their shopping); compliment a stranger (‘I like your necklace, it’s very pretty’), or donate to charity (money in a tin, clothes to a charity shop, give toys away on a freebie website).

Of course, you can make people you know feel important too – do something different or unexpected! Phone them if you always text. Make them a cup of tea if they always make you one. Put your things away (boys are you reading)! without being asked! 😛 Bake some cookies, pick some flowers (or blossom) for a friend. Just something little which you might think goes unnoticed but is acknowledged and appreciated.

Just be thoughtful and mindful of others… we are all human after all! 🙂

You never know, tomorrow it might be you who needs that extra smile! ☺️

Hi Laurena. We always let people behind us at the supermarket, who only have a few items, go in front of us- they always look so grateful (so do I on the rare occasion it happens to us lol). I try to go by the old adage ‘treat others how you would like to be treated’ (or something like that) – sometimes I feel taken advantage of for doing so but you have to do what feels right to you, within reason of course☺

Indeed! Don’t they just… with the ‘are you sure?’ (or German equivalent)! then they try and pay with a load of vouchers and the queue next to you rapidly disappears! Lol… but hey, you made someone happy at your expense! You should try asking the cashier how their day is… mine brightened up today when asked and said his shift was nearly finished and he could go home to finish putting up coving! His face went from bored and scanning mindlessly, to being quite animated and excited! Job done! 🙂

Aww, I bet the cashier isn’t used to that- it’s always nice when people care☺I try to always smile and not to look too much like a moody c*w hehe. I noticed that people here and in Spain don’t really ask so much if you’re sure, it’s more like they’re taken by surprise or sometimes shrug their shoulders as if saying “oh well, if you say so” lol. There was one lady who pushed in front and asked if she could do so at the same time, I wish I was more like that haha.

Oh Eva that last bit made me giggle! 😛 ‘Do you mind?’ as I put my stuff in front of yours! Lol! Anyway, I already got mine paid back – made a phone call where I had to give Dad’s details… the lady was so sweet when I got upset! 😀 x
