Feeling lonely and fed up…

Feeling lonely and fed up

At some point or another, we all experience the feeling of being lonely and fed up! Really, you are not alone in feeling like that! Especially in these uncertain Covid-19 times, we all get feelings of anxiousness, loneliness and FOMO (fear of missing out)!

Sometimes you just need someone to talk to…

Surely it’s just me?

No! I can assure you that it is not ‘just you!’ So many people, more people than you would imagine, feel lonely and fed up, sometimes, or often, or even always! Some people are great at hiding their feelings and emotions. Some people choose to express themselves on social media. Some people will do everything they can to fool you.

Board with the words you are not alone.
We all feel lonely sometimes!

What can I do?

There are so many ways to deal with feelings of loneliness and fed-upness! True, you might not feel like doing anything at all, but once you encourage yourself to do something, the time will go much faster! Easiest option could be to phone a friend or family member, or even just send a message and have a conversation that way. Exercise is a great way to revitalise yourself and get more energy – go for a walk (even if it is in your own garden), or search online for a virtual exercise class! Music is a fantastic way to make your mood lift – play your favourite tunes really loudly and join in with the singing! Of course, I am always going to suggest cooking! Have a look on here and make yourself something delicious to eat! I would choose something either really easy so you can leave a margin of error, or something challenging where all your efforts are concentrated into being precise and getting the recipe correct! For me, that would be Flapjack cookies and English Muffins.

If I’m still lonely…

Lose yourself in some type of other world! Depending on your mood, a film where concentrating is required (I’m thinking crime and thriller), or even a boxset where you binge watch several episodes of something can easily pass the time. If you have access to some good books (I’m so happy the libraries have reopened) then find one which really transports you there and you find hard to put down. Or, get crafty! As simple or as complicated as you like! Do some doodles and colour them in, make a thank you card, or get out the sewing and reinvent an item of clothing you no longer wear!

If I need more help?

There are times when we all need someone to intervene and support us on our journeys. There are loads of support networks available online and I’ve listed a few here which you may find useful. Remember… you can always drop me a line below, or send a private message or email if that is more your thing! Sometimes, just letting someone know how you are feeling is half the battle!

Hi Laurena, these last six months or so couldn’t have been easy for those living alone or having to shield themselves. This whole episode has also made people re-evaluate how they live their lives etc. but that may be another topic! In terms of lifting spirits/mood, I’ve been losing myself in other worlds, like you mentioned, for as long as I can remember haha. Autumn/winter time is perfect to dwell in some favourite novels, films and music of course. It’ll soon be time for me to re-read and watch adaptations of Rebecca and Jane Eyre, it’s a sort of tradition☺️

Yes Eva, you are right! I can count exactly how many times I’ve been out the last 161 days!!! and tell you where to! It’s not too many! I am so happy I have a lovely garden to go in otherwise I would have most definitely gone crazy! Ooo, we should have a readathon… same book, same time! That would be fab! 🙂 I’ve been reading the last week (I read 3 books in a week)! and although I have the next one sitting on the table, I’m making myself have a break! It most certainly feels like Autumn/winter here already – the radio said it will be 6c (42f) tonight!!! Oh, so it must be nearly pumpkin time – such delicious foods to be made (I’m growing Kabocha and spaghetti squashes) I’m thinking a pumpkin curry and a pumpkin meringue pie!!! 🙂

6′ in August, even at night, is crazy! I’ve seen a few pumpkins in supermarkets already and passed a pumpkin field last week. It’s been a very long time since I read something like 3 books a week, wow! I’m guessing not since teenagehood. Enjoy the rest of your day, even if it’s ‘Bank Holiday DIY’?
