Is your life on fast forward? Do you need to pause, rewind, stop, play, repeat?

Take five!

Sometimes. We all need a break. Sometimes we just need to step back from all the craziness the world throws at us. Sometimes, coffee and cake, or tea and biscuits is what we need.

Feelings

This week someone told me that when asked about my feelings, I talk about everyones except my own. So, how are you today? I hope you will answer this in the comments, as I will answer my own question here and share with you.

How am I? I am tired. Tired of the news. Fed up with the weather. Completely overwhelmed with dealing with stuff that is life. Actually, I am exhausted. Maybe I have been doing too much. Perhaps I have not been doing enough. Either way, it is difficult to get out of bed in the morning. More difficult than normal that is.

Chronic Illnesses

When you have a chronic illness, sometimes the illness becomes your everyday and the line between now and what used to be your normal becomes less apparent. As I have had Lupus (SLE) and Fibromyalgia for over a decade, I often forget how they affect me. Of course, I know there is pain, and fatigue, difficulty remembering things and all manner of random symptoms, but what was there before?

A Distraction

Creating a distraction from your feelings can help you relax and look at things differently. Of course, sometimes we need to deal with our feelings, but today, distraction works for me! My distraction of choice today is coffee. Of course, you need something tasty to go with coffee, so I am looking back at a few recipes which have become firm favourites for munching anytime!

Welsh Cakes are a favourite at any time of day and are often eaten as an afternoon snack with a cup of tea, as indeed are homemade shortbread. Of course, brownies have to feature – these biscoff brownies rarely last a day in our house as they are really one of the most delicious things you can bake! Scones, or ‘sconz‘ depending how you pronounce them, are what we traditionally think of when we think afternoon tea. Then of course there is cake! I love coffee cake and can eat several slices especially with a nice cup of coffee!

Share with me

I do love hearing from you (another distraction)! and hope you will drop me a line in the comments below. Maybe you want to talk about cake? Why not! Cake is good! Maybe you are still waiting for that crumpet recipe! or have something else you would like a recipe for? Perhaps you also have a chronic illness or fatigue and want to share your tips for coping or ask my opinion on something? Write in the comments below, or use the contact section to send a private message.

Hear from you soon

Take care & stay safe

Totally get this and so thrilled you went with cake and coffee option. Yes there are days and sometimes weeks where the body is tired, but even heavier where the mind and perhaps even the soul is tired too… heavy, heavy, heavy. Like you, I live with a long term diagnosis (in my case heart failure) so get the fatigue and the overwhelm very much… as regards tips I have loads of blogs with tips on so many aspects of lifes challenges with a diagnosis or difficult life event… I encourage you to browse ❤

Hello Pauline. Welcome to Life Diet Health, lovely to have you here. I can relate to this with the mind and soul being heavy too- thank you for sharing such profound words. Can I ask: How long has your heart failure been diagnosed? Was it secondary to something else? Have you found ways to manage your symptoms? I will most certainly spend some time searching some of your tips and advice. Have a great weekend.
