Who wants customisable delicious quick and easy fruit snacks?

Fruit Snacks

Fruit is great as it is and any fruit snacks would always be my first choice, especially at this time of year when the berries are ripening in the garden right before your eyes! I have an abundance of strawberries and raspberries which even though I pick constantly seem to reappear hourly! Gooseberries, redcurrants and mulberries are on the way too, and then hopefully I will get some cherries before the birds beat me to it!

That said, and as much as I love freshly picked fruit, sometimes you just need something a bit different! So, have a play and jazz it up! These snacks are great fun to make as well as eat, and this is a great activity for children too!

The Fruit Snack Recipe

Banana, chocolate & sesame! (& a pink lily)!

There is no recipe as such, just a selection of items as you have!

⭐Fruit: Bananas are great, strawberries too, apples would be good…

⭐Centres: Nut butter, jam, tahini, chocolate spread, biscoff spread, cream…

⭐Toppings: coconut, sesame seeds, mixed seeds, sprinkles, cacao nibs…

⭐Assemble:

Cut your slices to your desired thickness (thick or thin) – vary them for different tastes. Pick your spread for the centre and dab in the middle of one slice. Sandwich two slices together (use a cocktail stick if you wish). Sprinkle your topping over. Make several different combinations.

⭐Enjoy!

What do I need?

Although these are a quick & easy fun idea to make your fruit extra special, here are a few things which I thought you might like! I receive a small commission if you click and purchase through these links (this is at no additional cost to you)!

Serving

You could make these ready to serve (or eat), or alternatively make a few examples then set up a self serve bar! Put a selection of jars with spoons (or knives) for each, then use ramekins for the toppings, add a chopping board, spare knives and a selection of fresh fruit. Use the photos on here for inspiration!

Storage

It is best to make these and eat them as soon as possible (especially if using banana), although you can pop them in the fridge for later. You could also freeze them – bananas are great for this! You can them eat them whilst still frozen (or starting to defrost) as an alternative to ice-cream!

I’d love to say these are great for sharing, but I made so many variations I had to try them all and ended up eating this whole plateful myself! Let me know what your favourite combinations would be? It’s great when snacking is also healthy 😋 I shall be using this post as inspo as hubby’s been told he has ‘fatty liver’ so we’re trying to avoid sweet treats for now, won’t be easy lol. I do like spreading nut butter (or tahini mixed with date syrup) on apple slices but he’s not so keen…at least he likes pears and oranges- he makes a bit of a mess with it but I can’t complain too much hehe. I do like the idea of adding sesame to banana👍 I was enjoying frozen grapes during our heatwave last week🥵 I passed a gorgeous cherry tree yesterday but was good and didn’t pick any😜

Woohoo Eva, I love it when my posts give inspiration! Sesame seeds to banana is great – I do recall when younger having banana fritters with sesame seeds on the outside! Ohhh… you do the tahini and date syrup thing too – not something I enjoy (maybe I should try it again), but an Iraqi breakfast food usually served with bread! Frozen grapes are fabulous… and frozen cherries, nectarine and mango, not forgetting the delicious frozen banana! Oh, about the fatty liver – does he eat green tea? garlic? apricots?

I think I’d like Iraqi food ☺️ Sesame seeds on banana fritters sounds rather exotic in 80s/90s East Anglia, if that’s where it was 😜
Yes, I love all summer fruits… as you would know these contain more sugar I suppose but what the heck- they still contain plenty of nutrition!
I tend to use garlic a lot in cooking, hubby’s not so keen on raw garlic which I assume would be healthier. He likes green tea with honey or syrup🙂 I love fresh apricots, maybe I should give him a few too then if it helps hehe👍

Haha… indeed it was in East Anglia! 😛 Yes, you might like Iraqi food – if you could find anything without meat lol! Fruit is all good sugar though – better than adding a spoonful of refined sugar! 😀 Feed him up on garlic, green tea (with honey if he must)! and apricots! 🙂 Have you tried banana with sesame seeds yet?

Yes, been enjoying eating my banana and yoghurt with the addition of sesame seeds- why had I not thought of that before?☺️ Thanks again for the nutritional advice.
I’m typing this at a ridiculously late time, lots of memories whirring through my mind- I imagine it’s the same for you every so often x
